Dr. Howell has been teaching medical and healing techniques for 42 years. He has taught and lectured at naturopathic medical schools, conventions, conferences, television shows, radio shows, podcasts, magazine and newsletter interviews, and in private teaching seminars that he hosted. Dr. Howell’s teaching career started at Bastyr University, when he taught Ear, Nose, and Throat therapeutics, Bilateral Nasal Specific Technique, and Acute Homeopathic Prescribing in 1985-1987. He focused on physical medicine techniques after that, closing his naturopathic family practice in 1992. He had begun developing his own bodywork technique in 1985 and he named his method NeuroCranial Restructuring in 1995. He began training doctors in NeuroCranial Restructuring in 1996.

Initially, his NCR courses were very popular. There was an NCR Doctors’ Association which was replaced by the NCR Research Institute, but the enthusiasm for the work diminished as the practitioners got older and marketing didn’t recruit new practitioners. A few of the students have gone on to claim Dr. Howell’s ideas as their own discoveries---so that Methods called ABC, CRT, NCRT, and others are all developed by practitioners who were trained by Dr Howell and are fundamentally-based on his asymmetrical cranial techniques. By 2012, with the improved and more difficult version of NCR that he was teachning, Dr. Howell decided that his students were not understanding his methods well enough to learn his methods, so he stopped teaching.

At that time, he was a widower who weighed nearly 450 pounds. What he learned over the next few years transformed him into the very different, much healthier man that he is today.

With his transformed personal health, he transformed his naturopathic practice and now practices as a naturopathic healer working with his CODS organization (the Church of Divine Structure Priory 175, Inc.). Dr. Howell and his partner Rebecca have made so many breakthroughs in their treatment methods that they can call them healing techniques now. Dr. Howell now has a zeal-–and that is to teach transformative medicine.

He will begin teaching with NeuroCranial Restructuring.

NCR used to be taught in a seven-day workshop-style class. The largest NCR class had eleven students. Dr. Howell has redesigned the course to have a Lecture portion, which will be held online in a six-evening series of 3-hour classes,, and a five-day Workshop with the trainees learning how to diagnose and position a training subject, set up, insert, and inflate the instrument on three volunteers for 4 days. Only three people ever failed to pass the NCR Workshop Course.

NCR was initially a technique performed with minimal bodywork/massage and focused primarily on endonasal balloons, inserted the balloons through the nose into the throat and briefly inflated. This was done repeatedly in the original Bilateral Nasal Specific treatments, usually inserting the balloons 8 to 20 times per treatment session. With NCR, the endonasal balloons are used 1 to 3 times per session. As the method advanced, the original manipulation work was augmented by extensive bodywork. This eventually led to the development of the adjunct technique, Howelling.

ABOUT THE CLASS

The unifying concept here is that symmetrical musculoskeletal body functions are superior to those less symmetrical.. There are many reasons that bodies operate better when their symmetry is improved. We will talk about that. A symmetrical being is more gravitationally stable than is an asymmetrical being.

Evaluation of the stability allows a better method to determine acceptable treatment results. With improved symmetry after treatment, the chances of retaining the results is very high. Unstable treatment results are inevitably followed by reversion to the pre-treatment alignment. NCR shows you a repeatable method to diagnose and evaluate, design appropriate treatment, and follow through with treatment that will enhance symmetry and stability that is instantaneously demonstratable. The NCR results accumulate as well.

Because of the continuous morphing of the body, the use of dangerous and/or expensive diagnostic techniques is not practical because the images are too static. Using imaging to demonstrate beginning and end points, of course, is acceptable. The new 3-D scanners with stability scales to stand on are a wonderful idea that traveling healers do not have access to. Perhaps you do. This is a great way to show the NCR results.

Instead Dr. Howell uses photos or videos. This is what we will supply you with: before- and after-photos (like police mug shots) and perhaps some videos of the Workshop’s volunteers.

The equipment required to perform NCR is inexpensive and simple: a sphygmomanometer bulb, latex tissue finger cots, flat toothpicks, colloidal silver gel, dental floss, and pelvic wedges in a carrying case.This is included when you pay for the NCR Online Course.

Learning the endonasal techniques in a classroom still requires hands-on practice. This means that a training course cannot be a lecture only class. We have a two-part training technique now---the first part of the training can be done with lectures and home practice, so this will be the six-day, 3-hour daily NCR Online Course. This allows many people to take the class simultaneously. A few students may start performing the NCR. However, most student-trainees require the hands-on learning afforded by a workshop environment. The hands-on portion of the class can be taught to a group no larger than 12 students (plus at least two instructors and thirty-six volunteer patients to train and practice on during the last four days of class).

NCR Training lasts six days for the NCR Online Course and five days for the NCR Training Workshop. The NCR Online Course includes theory and techniques of cranial manipulation, setup and preparation of the equipment (supplied), and learning the manual skills of the treatment (at home while Dr. Howell demonstrates on Zoom).. All NCR Training Workshop participants must also receive a four-day NCR treatment series from Dr. Howell prior to the NCR Training Workshop.

During Online NCR Course, students learn to insert endonasal balloons into their noses before practicing insertion techniques on a volunteer. We also demonstrate the simple bodywork techniques used during NCR treatment on Zoom. This is all done during the six days of the NCR Online Course. We have you develop your skills, making (any) mistakes during these first days to have enough skill to treat volunteer patients at home or in the NCR Training Workshop. We begin the first day of the NCR Training Workshop by having you demonstrate your proficiency prior to performing the basic inflation procedure on your instructors.

Beginning Day 2 of the NCR Training Workshop, each student will furnish or receive three volunteer patients to treat as the primary therapist for the next four days The other students will assist the primary therapist as therapy and bodywork assistants, following the direction of the primary therapist.

We take before-and-after photos of all the volunteer patients, and they are supplied to all of the Workshop. Some use these photos to share with their personal practices to show the sorts of results that can be expected–even by beginners!

Dr Howell will share as much information as the class members can handle. He has weeks more educational material than he can teach in 10 days. He won’t run out of material. Will you run out of questions? If time allows, we will even bring in his practice partner, Rebecca, to demonstrate her intuitive guidance and we will always talk about ketogenic and carnivore diets!

This is a power-packed Online Course and Workshop. Dr. Howell will teach you a method that transforms your work. More than that, though, is that his methods of metadiagnosis and treatment will revolutionize your approach to medicine. He will probably be the first truly naturopathic physician whom you have ever met. This is not a class that will recommend functional medicine and the usage of boxes full of pills. Our first NCR Online Course will e held on 6 Wednesday evenings beginning Wednesday, November 13, 2025. The first NCR Workshop will be held February 4 through February 8, 2025. Our class will be held at the CODS offices at 451 6th Avenue in Brooklyn, NY 11215. The hardest thing to arrange is to find the 3 volunteer treatment training people for each student. We reward the student trainees by giving them $500 off the fee for the Workshop for each volunteer training subject who comes for the four days of the Workshop.

Class starts at 10AM each day and ends at 7PM. There will be a short break at 1130AM. Lunch for 90 minutes each day at 130PM. Class resumes at 3PM. Then a short break at 430PM.Class ends at 7PM.

This course is limited to a maximum of twelve students. Normally, when a commercially licensed doctor or physician teaches a professional level course, it falls under the jurisdiction of the Uniform Commercial Code. Any under-licensed individual who is trained in the class is extended liability coverage thrugh the teacher’s extended liability! This is why professional training classes must be careful about the license status of all of the individuals in a class.

But less so for courses taught by CoDS! Our courses are taught as spiritual healing courses through the Church of Divine Structure. This means that we can welcome anybody into our courses, regardless of licensure. However, just having the ability to pay for the class will not guarantee admission. It will also be no guarantee of success. We don’t want people to sign up and fail.

This class requires significant understanding of anatomy and physiology. It also requires sensitive hands and a kind heart. Are you wondering if you should take the class? You can contact us and have a short call with Derek or Dr. Howell. But, most of the time, you will know in your heart whether or not this is the class for you.

The Online NCR Course includes a one-year CODS Membership and the basic equipment that is needed to perform NCR and 18 hours of instruction for $995.

The Workshop costs $9250. This includes one 4-day treatment series with Dr. Howell that MUST be used prior to the Workshop and during the five-day Workshop where we supply 3 volunteers to practice on for the second through fifth days of the Workshop. If you bring volunteers for you to treat, you can save $500 per volunteer (they must come for all of the four days, and no more than 3 volunteers). We don’t supply food or beverages.

We need a non-refundable deposit of $2000 from you to reserve a spot in the Workshop. At the end of Day 1, if you don’t like the class, then you can tell us and we will return your $2000 with a mailed check. If you are satisfied at the end of Day 1, then you will pay the remaining $7250 at the end of the first day. We accept cash, check, money order, credit card, debit card, Zelle, Venmo, and PayPal (please declare CoDS and Dr. Dean Howell as your friend and family).

We also offer time payment terms: Sign a contract with us and begin making 7 monthly payments of $1400 by scheduling with your credit or debit card.

If we mis-judged you and you are really under-qualified and you don’t know what is going on, the class will go on without you. Quit the course if you don’t understand! It has only happened a few times in Dr. Howell’s career, but a few have wrongly stayed. If this happens, then you flunk. No refund. No free repeat of the class–but all previous students can take training again for 50% off ($4700, this includes an NCR treatment series with Dr. Howell).
